A robotics expert who created a bike without conventional wheels has gained millions of views on YouTube with his invention.

James Bruton, who constructs all of his creations in a undisclosed location in Hampshire, previously worked in IT and as a toy maker before transitioning to a full-time internet creator.

The spherical balls used on his omnidirectional battery-powered bike, instead of traditional wheels, are the same type used by circus acrobats and have self-balancing capabilities.

Mr. Bruton’s motivation is to create videos that captivate viewers.

Mr. Bruton utilized 11 3D printers in his spare room to assist in creating components for his innovative bicycle.

“We have balls that are approximately 2ft (60cm) in diameter, powered by omni wheels.

“I had to order the balls from the Netherlands, which took a few months to arrive, and the motors were sourced from the USA. However, if I had all the parts at once, I could likely reconstruct the bike in two to three weeks.”

He documented his construction progress on YouTube, showcasing the bike in action, although the spherical wheels did detach at higher speeds.

“While this is not a practical mode of transportation, it has garnered eight million views on YouTube, so it has been quite successful,” he mentioned.

His next endeavor will involve creating a “handstand cheat device.”

“It will essentially consist of powerful fans on my ankles that will support me in a handstand position – similar to a balancing bike but upside down,” he explained.

Mr. Bruton boasts over a million subscribers on YouTube and has been inventing since childhood.
