U.S. lawmakers said Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s detention in the U.K. marks a significant move for Epstein’s victims. They said it also highlights how many of Epstein’s contacts in America avoided punishment. He was held over possible misuse of his official position. Police did not release his name and gave no details about sexual abuse or human trafficking.

California Representative Robert Garcia spoke to reporters Wednesday in New Albany, Ohio, following a deposition in the Jeffrey Epstein case. Behind him stood fellow Democrats: David Min of California, Yassamin Ansari of Arizona, Stephen F. Lynch of Massachusetts, and Jasmine Crockett.
Democrats said Mountbatten-Windsor must answer for his links to Epstein, with his U.K. arrest showing accountability, according to California Representative Robert Garcia. He added that the U.S. should stop shielding officials.
President Trump has faced scrutiny over Epstein since taking office. Early refusal to release Justice Department records fueled claims they could involve him or his allies.
New Mexico Representative Melanie Stansbury wrote online that if a prince can face consequences, a president should too.
Republicans said the arrest shows the Trump administration is acting. Kentucky Representative James Comer said all involved in Epstein’s crimes must face justice, and no one is above the law, even royalty. A spokeswoman gave no comment on whether Comer will call Mountbatten-Windsor to testify.
