Once praised as a top supporter of the U.S. leader inside Europe, Slovakia’s head of government has delivered an alarming message after a trip across the Atlantic.
Following a visit to a luxury resort in the southern United States, he cautioned partners across the region about what he witnessed firsthand.
This politician had often backed the nationalist policy line coming from Washington and repeated claims that Europe lacks strength.
That tone changed after a private conversation. He later described feeling deeply unsettled by the condition of the American leader.
Several high-ranking officials from different countries were later informed of what happened. They said admiration had turned into serious worry.
The encounter happened days earlier during a closed-door discussion at a private property owned by the U.S. figure.
During talks with colleagues, the Slovak leader focused on behavior and mindset. He reportedly labeled it unsafe.
Days later, an urgent gathering took place in Belgium’s capital. Leaders rushed there because of controversy tied to plans involving a large Arctic island.
The warning was shared quietly during side talks, not the main session.
Those aware of the briefing said one thing remained unclear. No one knew which exact remarks caused such a strong reaction.

One source later claimed the Slovak leader described the U.S. figure as unstable.
Such private alarm stands in sharp contrast to his tone a year earlier.
At a major right-leaning gathering in the United States, he received loud approval while crediting the American head of state for shaping world events. He told supporters that Europe was benefiting.
Praise like this has never been rare. After their latest face-to-face at a famous Florida residence, he shared an online clip to show his direct link to the powerful figure.
That closeness also shows in military matters. He has repeatedly backed Washington’s current strategy in the Eastern European conflict. This position often isolates him from neighboring governments.
Midweek, he used a social media platform to deny the claims. He said the report was invented. He insisted no meeting like that happened, no one witnessed anything, and the story was false.
An official voice from the U.S. administration echoed the denial. The spokesperson said the story was fiction, blamed unnamed officials, and described the Florida discussion as constructive.
And he may not be the only one feeling uneasy.
