Akua Donkor, born in February 1952 in Afigya Kwabre, Ashanti Region, is a Ghanaian politician and founder of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP).
Originally a cocoa farmer, she lacks formal education but pursued public office, starting as an assemblywoman for Herman and aspiring to become president.
She first attempted to run as an independent candidate in 2012 but was disqualified by the Electoral Commission, a decision she contested. Her party headquarters in Kabu was destroyed by fire in 2016, but her ambition remains unwavering.
Promising free education and plans to leverage Ghana’s resources, she has drawn inspiration from Muammar Gaddafi, aiming for Ghana to gain greater economic independence.
In October 2016, she was disqualified from the December elections due to errors on her nomination form.
Despite setbacks, Donkor urged supporters to remain hopeful for future contests, setting her sights on the 2020 presidential race.
